ByteDance System Technology & Engineering team has been committed to the research and engineering development in the basic technology fields, such as operating system kernel and virtualization, construction and performance optimization of basic system software and library, stability and reliability assurance of large-scale data center, collaborative design of next-generation hardware and software, etc. Armed with comprehensive and solid software engineering capabilities, the team aims to guarantee the day-to-day business operations of ByteDance Inc. Meanwhile, the team actively follows the new technology trend, and embraces open source communities and industry standards.
We are looking for data scientist intern candidates with strong data analytics background and solid software development skills, who can utilize data-driven techniques in building solutions to help manage, scale and optimize Bytedance's system operations. You will help scope out projects, building operational analytics tools and platforms, and most importantly, use data to find insights, diagnose problems and tell compelling stories. From a technical perspective, you will have opportunities to learn and apply cutting-edge AI technologies to solve real-ward system operational challenges in live enterprise environment. You will take ownership for end-to-end application of ML/DL techniques, tracking its performance and iterate over time, and will sharpen your skills for robust software implementation and cross-team collaboration.
Responsibilities
• Develop set processes for data mining, data modeling, and data production
• Design and implement ML/DL algorithms to solve system operational challenges in an end-to-end fashion
• Design and establish metrics monitoring for at the data center scale, measure the performance and reliability of hosts and operating systems
• Continuously make recommendations/prediction based on analytics insights to optimize system efficiency and improve underlying system infrastructure's availability.
• Collaborate with members of your team (e.g., data engineers, domain experts) on the project’s goals.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• Currently pursuing bachelor's or above degree in Computer Science/statistics/math major, or other equivalent majors, and will graduate after September 2021;
• Familiar with ML/DL modeling approaches
• Able to troubleshoot and tune model performance issues
• Strong programming skills in Python or Java • Fast learner and eager to absorb new emerging technologies
• Enjoy working with other team members with strong collaboration and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Proven experience in the application of ML/DL techniques in: anomaly detection, prediction, recommendation
• Familiar with large data processing/storage tools such as Kafka, Flink, Spark, ElasticSearch, Redis, Hbase, Cassandra, Druid etc.
